Colossians 2:8 says “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ”. Paul writing to the Christians in Colossians, he told them in this verse that they take heed that no man takes them into captivity through the teachings that are not aligned with the true gospel of salvation. His aim for writing this message to the Christians was to make sure they remain in faith and not deviate from the truth. The Holy Spirit empowered Paul to write these warnings and concerns.

1 John 4:1 “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world”. Christ says that in the last days, that some people will abandon their faith and follow deceiving spirits and things that are taught by demons, as seen in the book of  Timothy 4:1.
