The famous story of David and Goliath has been a source of inspiration to many people. This story tells of faith and courage. During the reign of King Saul in the land of Israel, the Philistines gathered their armies for battle against the Israelites. The Israelites stood before their enemies, trembling because they thought they had no one to fight and defend them from their enemies, especially from the hand of champion warrior called Goliath of Gath. One morning, David rose up and went to the camp, upon getting there, he heard the words of Goliath intimidating and challenging his people. He inquired about Goliath and made a promise that he would fight and defeat him.
Then came the day for the fight, Goliath was prepared and was ready to defeat the Israelites. When he saw David, he looked upon him with disdain because David was just a youth, Goliath said he would kill David and feed his flesh to birds of the earth. David didn’t go to the battle field with shield, armor or buckler, he only went there with five smooth stones that he had carefully picked up from the brook and he put them inside his shepherd’s bag. During the action, David made some spiritual declarations, ran after Goliath , put his hand into his bag, took out a stone, slanged it and smooth Goliath on his forehead. The stone sunk deep into his forehead, he fell upon his face and died.
David defeated the Goliath, and when the Philistines saw that their warrior was dead, the fled. The Israelites pursued after them, and the Lord gave them victory that day. This story is one that teach us some spiritual lessons.
