Although, in this recent times, it seem almost impossible to be genuine, and this is because of the numerous hassles and hustles that has grown tougher and unending. Despite, all these difficulties encountered in our daily lives, the Bible still admonishes us to maintain our real identity. True authenticity comes from the image of who we are in Christ and living according to his words. As Christ followers, we have been called to stay true in whatever situation we fin ourselves, urging us to live the gospel that we preach.

Staying genuine is a journey that is filled with various challenges, it is not rosy to stay true. But this is the point where we need the help of the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit consciousness in us that reminds us of our true identity in Christ. He stands at the door of our hearts, guiding us and giving us the ability to obey God’s words. Being genuine is demonstrated through actions, not just by declaration. It is actions and relations with people around that determines if we are truly genuine. Christ urges us to live genuinely in the light of God’s love and truth. Being genuine is an important aspect of living a life that aligns with God’s words and also bring him glory and honor. The scriptures is filled with so many Bible verses that encourages us to be genuine and avoid hypocrisy and falsehood. God wants us to live a life that reflects the truth of his words,

Proverbs 11:3 “The integrity of the honest guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them”. This verse outlines the benefit of being genuine and the repercussion for being a crooked. Being genuine guides our paths, preventing us from falling into pit holes and unnecessary problems.

Matthew 23:27-28 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness”. We can see from this verse of the scripture that Jesus hates falsehood. Here he criticized the hypocrisy of religious leaders.

Romans 12:9 “Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good”. Apostle Paul instructs the Roman Christians to stay genuine. He exhorts them to hate what is evil and embrace what is good.
