Redemption is one precious gift that God gave to us, one that cannot be earned by being a good person. Redemption in Christianity is the act of God’s saving grace, It is a second chance to given to us by God, to save us from eternal condemnation. The singular sin of disobedience committed by Adam and Eve, separated us from God and opened us up to death, sickness, pain, slavery and every other hostile experience. But God being so full of love, restored us back to him through redemption. Redemption represents the magnitude of God’s love, kindness and care towards us. God does not want us to perish, so he sent his son, whom being sinless became sin for our sakes. Christ carried the burden and the sins of the whole world on him, just to redeem us back to God. Now through the sacrifice of Christ on the cross of Calvary, we have been offered forgiveness and restoration to God. Redemption is not an inconstant experience, it is a constant process that leads to our salvation from sin and it’s consequences.
Throughout the Old Testament, we can see that only the blood of animals were used for atonement of sins. But God sent Jesus to come and save us with his own blood. This act of redemption tore the veil, and gave us all free invitation to go to God and seek mercy whenever we derail. The practice of Christianity won’t be complete without redemption.
