As Christians, prosperity is one of redemptive rights in Christ, the Bible made us to know that Christ was poor so that through his poverty we might be rich. Christ willingly embraced poverty in order to grant us abundant blessings through his grace. Therefore, it is odd for anyone to think that Christianity is synonymous to poverty and suffering. This is the mindset that some people have cultivated and I tell you that this is a very wrong and an ungodly mindset to have. Looking at it from a Biblical aspect, we will see that God truly desires for us to prosper and be in good health.
However, in a world like ours where prosperity is often linked to material possession, wealth and influence. But in scriptural view, prosperity is not considered as our earthly possessions, rather prosperity is portrayed as wholeness, fruitfulness, emotional peace and having a great and healthy relationship with God. This does not mean that having material possessions and financial abundance is wrong, it is not wrong and we are meant to also have these things and enjoy them. It just means that Biblical first view on prosperity is one that begins with the richness of the soul, a soul that is anchored in God, one that is filled with love, faith, peace, and hope.
Like I said earlier, God does not condemn physical wealth, instead he warns us against making it a demi god. As believers of Christ, it is important we know that Biblical definition of prosperity is different from that of the world. True prosperity starts from inside, which is the soul, then followed by outer prosperity which is our earthly possessions and wealth. These wealth is given to us by God as an added tool for us to also become channels of blessings to other people, not just for our selfish gain and desires.

What Does The Bible Say About Prosperity?
The Bible gives us examples of people who truly prospered. Some of these people are, Abraham, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Isaac. Each of these people prospered physically because they first gained soul prosperity, they walked uprightly before God, desiring only things that pertained to his kingdom. When God told Solomon to make any request and it will be granted to him, he first requested for wisdom to rule righteously. He asked for that which would prosper his soul first, from there, God added the physical prosperity to him. This tells us that true prosperity serve’s God’s mission first.

This verse tells us that when we seek God first, wealth and riches will come in abundance even without asking for it. This scriptures also encourages us to always put God and his kingdom first.
3 John 1:22 “Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well”. This scripture highlights God’s desire for us to prosper, and most importantly for the prosperity to be all round, touching our spirits, souls and body.
Joshua 1:8 “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success”. The Bible is our guideline to having and living a successful life here on earth.
