What Does The Bible Say About Mindfulness?
The Bible urges us in several scriptures to stay lucid on the things that pertains to God and his kingdom. The Bible emphasizes on the importance of guarding our hearts, and this is because the heart is usually the first target of the devil. When the devil wants to strike and distract us from focusing on God, he targets our hearts. At all cost, let us jealously guard our hearts at all cost and practice mindfulness.
Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”. This scripture simply tells us to prioritize God over the world and the things that are in it. By placing God first and seeking his him, we will remain focused on him. There will be no room for distractions as our hearts, thoughts, actions and mouths is busy with kingdom activities.
Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own”. Anxiety is one tool the enemy uses to distract us and make our hearts weak at the promises and blessings of God. When we allow anxiety to dwell in our hearts, we will definitely be distracted and this will derail our focus from God. So, in this verse, God assures us that our tomorrow is secured in him.
Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is”. Staying focused in God is the only practice that keeps us in track with God.
