Ingratitude is one bad habit that is capable of taking away good things that are meant to come our way. It is a sin that many commit by omission, they view it as just a minor character. Little do thy know that God hates ingratitude, and he attaches severe punishments to it. Ungrateful people are never contented with what they have and what is available to them, they seek for more and when they get more, they neglect the giver and continue to ask for more. What does The Bible Say About Ingratitude?

The Bible has made us to understand that praises and thanksgivings are all that God requires from us. He does not eat nor drink, praises are all that he consumes. When we fail to render these things to him, it upsets him. Ingratitude is a sin that has very bad repercussions as seen in the book of;

Malachi 2:2-3 “If you will hear, and if you will not take it to heart, to give Glory to my name, says the Lord of hosts, I will send a curse upon you, And I will curse your blessings, Yes, I have cursed them already, because you do not take it to heart. Behold, I will rebuke your descendants and spread refuse on your faces. The refuse of your solemn feasts: And one will take you away with it”. This was God speaking to corrupt priests who neglected his blessings. This is a warning to us concerning ingratitude, we can see from the passage above that God cursed the blessings of his people because of ingratitude. This singular habit is capable of destroying our lives.

1 Corinthians 10:10 “And do not grumble, as some of them did—and were killed by the destroying angel”. This is another proof that shows God’s hatred towards ungratefulness. We have been encouraged in this scripture not to grumble as this is capable of attracting the angel of destruction.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”. This is a reminder that we ought to give thanks in all situations, not only in good times, but also in bad times. One of the benefits of thanksgiving is that it keeps our hearts humble, reminding us that we depend totally on God and that all we have comes from him.
