Being a child of God does not mean that automatically we will be free from hard times, No that is not what the Bible says. This is contrary to the perception that many Christians have, they believe that as children of God life troubles will stay off our lives. The truth is that as long as we are still on this earth, we can not escape challenges. This is not to scare us, but rather to encourage us so that we can buckle up our faith in God. When hard times come, we can only survive if we have faith and hope. These two virtues are indispensable in our Christian walk.
We have been taught and encouraged to have faith even in the face of adversity, well one of the most difficult times to have faith is during the hard days. It is easier to believe in God when the days are good. However during the hard days and at all cost, we have to go above and beyond to continue to have faith in God. Having faith in God during the rough days is very paramount , this faith is what will keep us going. To maintain faith in hard times, some spiritual exercises will be carried out. These include; consistent studying and meditating of God’s words, fervent prayers and engagement in kingdom services, reflection on God’s goodness and mercies. These actions will help keep our faith afloat in hard times.
Another virtue that is needed in our Christian journey is Hope, and it is mostly needed when we face those situations that may seem insurmountable. In the midst of difficult days, hope seem distant. Looks like we might not be able to get out of that trouble, but God the scripture is a safe place where we can go to and our hope will be renewed. Having hope in God in hard times is a practice that is deeply rooted in our level of commitment to God.

Isaiah 40:31 “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint”.
