Dishonesty is one bad habit some people struggle with, while some carry on with the habit deliberately. And as Christ followers, we have been called to be trustworthy just as Christ was during is time on earth. The Bible encourages us to live a life of integrity and be honest with our words and actions at all times, not only when it is convenient for us. It is important we note that we can’t help people by lying, this is for those who think that by lying on behalf of someone they are helping. Being dishonest spoils our relationship with our friends, family and colleagues. When people discover that you lied or cheated, the trust they have for you will be utterly broken and at that point, the reason why you lied wouldn’t matter. Not only does dishonesty ruins our relationship with people, it also mars our relationship with God. The Bible records that God hates a lying tongue. Dishonesty is a habit that is hard to put up with, because once you tell a lie you will need many more lies to cover up.

The Bible made us to understand that honesty is a godly thing. God expressly commanded us not to lie.
