Dignity is a very important and beautiful part in our Christian faith, it reminds us of the value God has placed over us. God created everyone of us with great value and purpose, the Bible tells us that we are created in God’s image and likeness. This means that irrespective of the difference in our race, gender, background and stature, every one of us carry the unique image of God in us. Our dignity is not based on our achievements, appearance, or status, rather our dignity is rooted in who we truly are in Christ. In a world where we are often judged by what we do, have and portray in the society, as Christians, these should not be the yard stick that dignifies us. Our knowledge of who we are in Christ earn us all the dignity in the world.
As followers of Christ, we have a calling by God to uphold our dignity and that of others; and we are to do this by caring for the poor, the weak, the powerless and also by treating everyone with respect. How we treat others reflects our Christ-like character. We read how Jesus never discriminated anyhow during his reign on earth, he restored the dignity of the poor, the sick, the blind and the lame. He gave them a new purpose and value. After the fall of Adam, the dignity of man was tarnished by sin, it distorted the way we see ourselves before God. We were unworthy to be in his presence to fellowship with him, but the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross of Calvary restored our dignity. He took away our shame, guilt and sin and brought us into the marvelous light of God, his sacrifice rebranded and presented to us blameless.
After our salvation, we are meant to live our lives with dignity, upholding integrity, purpose and value. This does not mean perfection, but it shows that we truly understand our position in Christ. Our actions and voices should portray the our identity in Christ. Next time the devil brings demeaning thoughts into your mind, remember who you are in Christ and bask in that knowledge.

What Does The Bible Say About Dignity?
The Bible offers us profound teachings on how valuable and worthy we are before God and others. Dignity is a divine gift from God, it is can not be earned by our mere human achievement, status, or wealth, It only comes from God. The scripture teaches us that dignity is a quality that every believer possess because of who God is and our position in him. We are not just products of nature, we are the true hand made of God, other things he created with by commandment, but when it came to man, he made him with his own hands and breathed his life into us. This shows us that we are valuable and intentional creations of God, crowned with his glory.
Isaiah 43:4 “Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life”. Here God reminds us of how precious we are to him, worthy of respect and significance. This scripture reveals God’s perspective towards us.
Isaiah 43:4-5 “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels”. This verse reflects the greatness that God has placed on humans, the honor and glory that we have, making a little lower than the angels. It is important for us to walk in our worth as Christians, knowing fully well that God love and value us.
